Green Highway Project Update & New Project Launch!
School is out, and the Green Highway Project has exciting news! Next week, this project will be awarded a $2000 prize for Youth Achievement from the Kurt Giessler Foundation at the dedication of the "Kurt Giessler Memorial Engineering Suite" at Hanover High School. As part of this honor, I will also be presenting my project prototype at the Kurt Giessler Foundation's Annual Golf Event this September. With this money I will be able to continue to expand and grow the Green Highway Project, and get closer to my ultimate goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and thus climate change.
Additionally, I have the joy of speaking about Dr. Jane Goodall and Roots & Shoots at a school in the DC area this fall. I love speaking at schools, and being given the opportunity to share what I'm passionate about, just like I did when I spoke about the Green Highway Project at Sacred Heart Elementary School for Earth Day.
New Project Announced: Pediatric Portraits for Hope
This month I have launched a new campaign project (see the Roots & Shoots profile page for it here.) called Pediatric Portraits for Hope. The goal is to use art to brighten the days of kids who have cancer and their families.
This is an ongoing project, and I'm very excited to get it up and running! Please don't hesitate to contact me if you know of any hospital or children who would enjoy a portrait. Also, I like to note that although I've started this with the intention of helping kids with cancer, it is not limited to just cancer patients. Anyone who could use a portrait to brighten their day is welcome :)
As always, thank you to everyone who is always supporting me!
